| RE: | New Statutory Requirement regarding Issuance of Building Permits and Workers' Compensation Insurance Coverage |
To assist you in meeting a new statutory requirement concerning workers' compensation insurance coverage (pursuant to Public Act 95-277, §7), the Workers' Compensation Commission would like to notify you of the following:
A copy of the full language of Public Act 95-277, §7 appears below. For more information, you may contact your local Workers' Compensation Commission District Office or call the Workers' Compensation Commission's Education Services at (203) 493-1500.
PA 95-277, §7:
"Prior to issuing any building permit pursuant to section 29-263 of the general statutes, a local building official shall require proof of workers' compensation coverage for all persons employed or engaged to perform services on the site of the construction project for which the permit was issued, provided the total cost of all work to be performed is one hundred thousand dollars or more. A property owner who intends to perform all of the construction work himself shall so certify, in writing, to the local building official in lieu of providing proof of workers' compensation coverage."
