A meeting of the Workers’ Compensation Advisory Board was held on Monday, February 8, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at the Office of the Chairman, 21 Oak Street, 4th Floor, Hartford, CT.

Minutes

A regular meeting of the Workers’ Compensation Commission Advisory Board was held on February 8, 2010, in the Workers’ Compensation Commission’s CRB Hearing Room, 21 Oak Street, Hartford, Connecticut.

The meeting convened at 10:15 a.m. with the following Board Members present: Chairman Gardner Wright, Rocco Calo, Linda Passanisi, William Ridolfi, and interim member Donald Shubert. Also present were WCC Chairman John Mastropietro, Marvin Smernoff, Michael Petosa, and Connie Rue of the Workers’ Compensation Commission; Mark Leighton, Esq. Chairman of the Workers’ Section of the Connecticut Bar Association; Kia Murrell Esq. of CBIA; and William Clark.

Chairman Mastropietro provided an update on the following matters:

  1. The Commission responded immediately to the tragic explosion at the Kleen Energy Systems natural gas plant in Middletown on February 7, 2010. Internal systems have been put into place to respond to calls, identify multiple insurance carriers, and assist victims with the claims process.
  2. The Governor’s re-nominations of Chairman John Mastropietro and Commissioner Scott Barton are proceeding through the legislative process.
  3. The Governor’s budget presented on February 3, 2010 includes maintaining all eight district offices including the Middletown District Office.
  4. The Payor-Provider Task Force anticipates finalizing the Payor-Provider Guidelines before the end of May.

There being no further business, a motion to adjourn was made by William Ridolfi at 11:05 a.m. The motion was seconded by Rocco Calo. The motion to adjourn was unanimously accepted.

The next meeting will be held on March 8, 2010.
