A meeting of the Workers’ Compensation Advisory Board was held on Monday, April 6, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at the Office of the Chairman, 21 Oak Street, 4th Floor, Hartford, CT.
A regular meeting of the Workers’ Compensation Commission Advisory Board was held on April 6, 2009, in the Workers’ Compensation Commission’s CRB Hearing Room, 21 Oak Street, Hartford, Connecticut.
The meeting convened at 10:20 a.m. with the following Board Members present: Rocco Calo, Benedict Cozzi, Glenn Marshall, Mary O’Hara, and Linda Passanisi. Also present were WCC Chairman John Mastropietro, Kia Murrell Esq. of CBIA, and William Clark.
Chairman Mastropietro provided an update on the potential immediate impact the current budget proposals will have on the Commission including transferring the Workers’ Compensation Commission to the General Fund, potentially closing a district office, reassigning claims to other districts, potential staff reduction, and potential program elimination.
Chairman Mastropietro continues to focus on the Commission’s core mission by reducing the waiting period for hearings through implementation of short calendars and complex dockets. In addition, the Chairman’s efforts to foster cooperation among the hospitals, insurance carriers, payors, and providers are progressing.
The Board members agreed to approve minutes via email. The motion made by Rocco Calo and seconded by Glenn Marshall received unanimous approval.
A motion to adjourn was made by Rocco Calo at 11:15 a.m. The motion was seconded by Linda Passanisi. The motion to adjourn was unanimously accepted.
The next meeting will be held on May 4, 2009.
